Frequently Asked Questions

  • 1
What kind of hardware is required to get started with colocation?

To get started on colocation you'll need rack-mountable server, power circuit cable, network ethernet cable (cat5, cat5e or cat6) and server rails compatible with rack-mount server. If you're colocating one or two

servers, a switch is not usually required. For more than 2 servers, we ask that you send in a switch to handle the additional network ports required for connectivity.

  • 2
How do I find out how much power circuit my server will utilize?

A quick calculation can be done by checking each components power circuit consumption individually and adding them up. You'll usually find this information on the packaging or on the component itself. In general a

1U rack-mount server will consume anywhere from .75A / 120V - 1.25A / 120V with the CPU taking most of that power circuit usage.

  • 3
    Can I order additional IP's?

Additional IPs can be ordered anytime. For a CIDR block larger than /29 we require proper justification, detailed summary of what IPs will used for.

  • 4
Is there a limit on extra IP's?

While there is no set limit on additional IPs per colocation customer, all requests are handled on a case by case basis.
